Yeovil & District Lawn Tennis League
This season we are fielding 7 Adult teams and 3 Junior teams in the Yeovil and District Lawn Tennis League.
Players are chosen for their ability by team captains, and we have Mens, Ladies and Mixed Doubles teams represented in most divisions, so there is normally provision for all club members who want to play in matches.
Refreshments after the match normally take the form of a meal and drinks at the local pub…a good way to wind down and meet the opposition after the competitive nature of match play! Team captains regularly write articles about matches for the local newspaper.
In addition to matches, we hold several singles and doubles tournaments throughout the year, some of which are open to non-members. These are always well attended, sociable events with prizes and a cup awarded to runners-up and winners.
LTA Affiliation and British Tennis Membership
As we are affiliated to the LTA, we encourage club members to join their ‘British Tennis’ scheme for free, because our annual allocation of Wimbledon tickets depends on the number of subscribers.
The LTA allocated our club 16 pairs of tickets this year (6 of them for Centre Court) so it’s well worth signing up for, but you have to be a member of the club as well! Tickets are drawn by ballot at the AGM held in February.
